Angela Carey

Naturopathic Practitioner

I am a Naturopathic Practitioner and Registered Nurse with over 20 years experience. I truly believe in natural health and I have encompassed a passion for naturopathy after healing myself from a chronic autoimmune condition. I now mentor, transform and empower my clients to return to well-being and true vitality.

Specialising in nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy and lifestyle adjustments. Combined with my experience as a Registered Nurse, I am able to steer my way through the traditional medical model of health care and integrate natural therapies to support many conditions. Focusing on the underlying cause of the disease, I will work closely with you to tackle any health challenges you may have.

Having worked in corporate leadership positions I understand the impacts of stress and the importance of balancing lifestyle, I offer Executives support to maintain clear mental functioning, stress and anxiety management and adrenal support to prevent burn out.

Holding a Graduate Certificate in Aged Care from the University of Newcastle, I understand’s the complexity and chronic issues many ageing people face. In a therapeutic partnership I will work with elderly clients to support them to maintain function and health later in life. This has inspired me to utilise anti-aging strategies in my own life and with clients.

I am super passionate about superherbs and superfoods for revitalisation and enjoyment.

What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy, or naturopathic medicine, is a system of medicine based on the healing power of nature. Naturopathy is a holistic system, meaning that naturopathic doctors (N.D.s) or naturopathic medical doctors (N.M.D.s) strive to find the cause of disease by understanding the body, mind, and spirit of the person. Most naturopathic doctors use a variety of therapies and techniques (such as nutrition, behavior change, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and acupuncture).

There are 2 areas of focus in naturopathy:

  • is supporting the body’s own healing abilities,
  • empowering people to make lifestyle changes necessary for the best possible health. While naturopathic doctors treat both short bouts of illness and chronic conditions, their emphasis is on preventing disease and educating patients.

How can it benefit me?

Because naturopaths combine so many therapies, it is difficult to single out specific illnesses that respond well to naturopathy. Naturopaths’ treat both acute and chronic conditions from arthritis to ear infections (otitis media), from HIV to asthma, from congestive heart failure to hepatitis. N.D.s treat the whole person, rather than only treating a disease or its symptoms, aiming to help their patients maintain a balanced state of good health. Because of this holistic approach, naturopathy may be especially suited for treating chronic illnesses.

How does it work?

A visit to a naturopathic doctor, or N.D., will be similar to a visit to your family doctor. The doctor will take a very thorough history, asking about your diet, lifestyle, stress, and environmental exposures. Next, the N.D. will do a physical examination, which may require laboratory tests.
